Insurance Laws
An insurance policy is of little use if the claim is wrongly rejected when the time comes.
An insurance policy is of little use if the claim is wrongly rejected when the time comes to make it. We act in insurance disputes across life, health, motor, marine, fire, crop, and property insurance, and we represent policyholders and claimants on one side and insurers and reinsurers on the other.
For policyholders and nominees our work covers challenges to the repudiation and short settlement of claims, delay in settlement, and disputes over the true meaning of policy terms, exclusions, and conditions. For insurers we advise on the correct handling of claims, defend claims that are inflated or not genuine, and pursue subrogation and recovery against those responsible for the loss. We also act in group insurance, keyman insurance, and mediclaim disputes, and in complaints of mis selling of policies.
These matters are taken before the Insurance Ombudsman, the District, State, and National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commissions, and the civil courts, and we advise insurers and intermediaries on compliance with the directions of the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority. A rejected claim often turns on a single condition in the policy, and that is where the case is fought, up to the High Court of Andhra Pradesh and the Supreme Court of India where the amount and the point of law justify it.
